Hitting out of a sod faced bunker is the same as hitting a flop shot. You need to get the up on a very steep angle and land softy on the green.

The Flop Shot

A flop shot, also known as a lob shot, is a short pitch shot played with a very high-lofted wedge in order to create maximum height on the ball's trajectory. The intention is to throw the golf ball high in the air and have it land softly on the green, stopping quickly and with very little roll.
