Yoga Can Create More Power in Your Golf Swing
It’s very important that you know how to use your lower body to feel grounded. To feel the connection to the earth so that you can use gravity and the ground reaction forces to create more power in your swing.
This next sequence of yoga for golfers poses will help you do that.
We also know in the golf swing the only time the glutes are firing at the same time as at address. Every other time during your swing the glutes are firing independently.
So we’ll start out with a simple pose called a chair pose stroke with your feet about hip-width apart, now before you begin to bend your knees I’d like you to drag your feet apart without even moving them. Now you’ll sit back, all the way back like you’re sitting in a chair and you can pause here for a moment feel this connection to the ground.
From here without shifting your hips side to sideload the left leg and then simply float the right foot off the ground just an inch or two and bring it up and down a few times.
Practice that every day, 10 reps on each side to feel the connection to the ground and add more power to your golf swing.
