How To Hit a Fairway Bunker Shot
Today, I’m going to show you how to hit a fairway bunker shot.
I found myself in a fairway bunker, but 150 yards from the green today we’re going to go over the basics and how to hit the fairway bunker shot.
The first thing I’m going to do is take one extra club. So typically, I hit an eight-iron about 150 yards, today I’m going to be hitting a seven-iron out of this bunker.
The second thing on how to hit a fairway bunker shot, when taking your grip is to grip halfway down. That’s going to ensure and help you hit the ball first, which is the most important part of this shot.
The next thing I want you to do, we’re going to dig our feet into the sand bunker to not only feel the sand but also restrict our lower body movement in this swing, giving us a better foundation.
The last thing on how to hit a fairway bunker shot, is you put the ball position in the back of the stance.
- Make sure you take one extra club
- Grip down on the grip ever so slightly
- Let’s get the ball position a little bit more towards the back of your stance.
- Dig your feet and feel the sand.
