Residents of Dataw Island have an appreciation for nature, history, and fellow neighbors who unite much of the island.

About nine miles or so east of Beauford, South Carolina, is a place steeped in history.

Dataw Island, from the earliest settlers to those who occupied the island leading up to the Civil War, Dataw Island provided wealth through Indigo and Sea Island cotton.

And while the history of Dataw Island remains prevalent today, the current lot of residents enjoy a lifestyle and wealth of recreational activities the island lends itself to.

“We’ve got, of course, the two golf courses complemented by hardcore tennis courts, brand new pickleball courts, croquet lawns that are unparalleled in the region, as well as other sports and activities like bocce ball. We have a free library, community gardens, butterfly gardens, and a whole host of social clubs and activities.”

And when it comes to aquatics, few private clubs can match what Dataw Island has to offer.

The club offers both a resort-style outdoor pool facility as well as an indoor lap pool and hot tub.

And if you’re a boater, Dataw Island offers a little slice of heaven.

“Here on site, we do have a full-service marina as well, the Dataw Island Marina. We’re just about a 10 to 15-minute ride to historic downtown Beauford and the other direction, 15 minutes will take you to one of the most beautiful, natural beaches you could ask for at Hunting Island State Park.”

There’s even a launch dock for your kayak, and that makes it easy to catch a sunset.

Members can choose from casual dining at the Dataw Island pub to fine dining at the Tides Edge Grill.

Dataw Island Club is where the history and beauty of the Lowcountry come together for an extraordinary living experience.
